Our mission: To educate and inform the public about traditional, revival and interpretative folk music, folklore, storytelling, folk dance and related folklife art forms through the presentation of concerts, workshops, a yearly folk festival and otherwise.
The purposes of the Fox Valley Folklore Society are to nurture and promote the preservation, appreciation, and understanding of traditional and contemporary multi-ethnic folk music, folklore, folk dance, storytelling, and related folklife art forms. The Fox Valley Folklore Society believes that the preservation and understanding of the folklife traditions of any culture is essential to the survival of that culture’s sense of heritage and cultural identity. By sharing and learning about our own and other cultures through the folklore, folk music and dance, we can increase the understanding and appreciation of our own and other cultures. We also believe that contemporary performing folk artists songs and stories are the extensions of the living folk tradition that will pass to future generations along with the wealth of traditions we have inherited.
